The motorcycle engine camshaft drives the intake and exhaust valves under high-rpm, high-temperature and high-load conditions and is one of the most heavily loaded parts inside a motorcycle engine. Motorcycle engines often run beyond 10,000 rpm with a much higher specific output than ordinary vehicle engines; the cam profile, material and surface treatment directly determine power, fuel economy and reliability.
NewCams motorcycle camshafts are made from alloy cast iron or steel blanks. The cam profiles are precision-machined on CNC, and the cam working surfaces are induction-hardened or nitrided to provide the strength, stiffness and toughness needed to resist wear and scuffing at high valve actuation frequency.
