The OCV (Oil Control Valve), also known as the VVT solenoid, is the core actuator of the engine variable valve timing system. Under ECU signals based on RPM, load and coolant temperature, it precisely regulates oil flow and pressure to the camshaft phaser, continuously adjusting camshaft phasing.
By optimizing valve timing, the OCV delivers more torque at low RPM and more power at high RPM, while reducing pumping losses, fuel consumption and emissions, and improving idle stability and cold start.
