The fuel pump drive shaft is a critical transmission component in high-pressure fuel systems. In gasoline direct injection (GDI) and high-pressure common-rail diesel engines, it is driven by the camshaft or crankshaft through gears or a cam to actuate the high-pressure pump plunger, pressurising fuel up to hundreds of bar in exact synchronisation with engine speed, ensuring precise injection timing and fuel quantity.
NewCams drive shafts are precisely built from a shaft body, eccentric cam, drive end (gear / flat) and bearing journals, using quality alloy or case-hardening steel blanks. CNC turning and grinding, carburising or induction hardening of the cam surface, and strict control of journal runout and gear phasing ensure stable fuel delivery and quiet operation.
